How does the TutorMeTeam program work?
Our approach is simple. We work with you to determine your needs and goals, and then match the student with one of our skilled and experienced instructors.
Our instructors primarily use the curriculum your child is using in the classroom. We have found that this approach improves performance and confidence in the classroom, and feels more like help rather than extra work. The goal is always to address immediate needs and to have a lasting impact on performance and confidence.
Following the school’s curriculum allows the student to keep up with his studies and allows the tutor an opportunity to review anything the child didn’t understand in the classroom. Using the student’s school curriculum as a guideline, the tutor may introduce supplementary materials and exercises to assist the student with difficult concepts.

How often does the Student meet with the Tutor?
Typically, the tutor meets with the student once or twice a week for one to two hours each session. Depending on whether the student has catch-up work, late assignments, learning challenges or motivational concerns, the recommended visits may be higher. Ultimately, the frequency is determined by the parents.

Where does the Tutor meet with the Student?
Obviously, for on-line tutoring, TutorMeTeam meets with the student right on their computer screen! For families that prefer we meet with their child face-to-face, most will invite us to meet in the student’s home. If you prefer, or if your home is not conducive to getting the most out of the tutoring sessions, we can also arrange for other convenient sites, such as a library, office or community center. We offer personal face-to-face tutoring in South Florida only.

Do you require long-term contracts?
No. At TutorMeTeam we believe that once a student’s or family’s goals are accomplished our mission is complete. There are no long-term contracts requiring you to continue with our tutoring service. We’ll be here for you if you need us again! And if you do, we know you’ll call us before the problem escalates and the student has that hopeless, confused feeling again.

What about Summer tutoring? Fall break? Winter break? Spring break? Does TutorMeTeamoffer tutoring when school is out of session?
Yes. If your schedule allows, continuing with tutoring during school breaks can be very helpful getting your child caught up with or even ahead of their schoolwork.
During the summer break, having a tutor work with your child on subjects they have had difficulty during the school year with can start the next school year on the right foot. Research shows that continued instruction through the summer months can have a dramatic impact on academic performance. Ask about our Summer tutoring packages. As always, in home tutoring can be easily scheduled to accommodate vacation schedules and other summer activities. We offer either on-line or in home tutoring.

What advantages does TutorMeTeam offer over center-based educational services?
The main advantages include true flexibility, convenience, one-on-one instruction and the use of your child’s own curriculum.
Convenience – We work with your child either on-line or we come to your home or other convenient location without the need to add one more drop-off and pick-up to your already schedule.
Flexibility – We work with the individual schedules of busy families. Tutoring sessions can easily be coordinated with other extra-curricular activities.
Curriculum – TutorMeTeam begins with whatever curriculum your child is using at their school, and supplement those materials with targeted exercises and activities based on your child’s specific needs. Achieving success with the same curriculum they are using at their school builds confidence and our students all report they are now successful in the classroom as a direct result of their tutoring sessions. Their grades also prove this!

What are the advantages of on-line private tutoring?
Provided that the tutor is experienced and the student wants to learn and to be successful, private one-on-one tutoring is definitely the most effective form of academic instruction. Private tutoring allows for so many positive points:
•Students can schedule homework and meals around the time that they schedule their private tutoring
•No time is wasted by students having to travel to and from the tutor’s office
•Immediate feedback can be given not only to the student but also to their parents
•Teaching and learning takes place in the environment where a student feels most at ease – their home sitting privately with the tutor or on their own computer in their home
•Students have easy access to their text books and other course materials that can be used for reference

Why might my child need a tutor?
Most times, the student actually asked you for a tutor and told you why they need one. Perhaps you feel that your child is not achieving his or her potential. Are his or her grades lower that you expected? Does your child’s teacher indicate poor test performance, a lack of focus in class and an inability to participate or explain answers to problems when asked? Perhaps there are other performance related factors that concern you. If any of the above concerns are relevant to your situation then the right tutor will be able to help resolve all of the issues in question.

What if the tutor's teaching methods are different than those being used by my child's school teacher?
Our tutors are always willing to contact your child’s teacher in order to discuss what the teacher feels are the main issues that need to be addressed. We then will work with the student to explain the concepts and ensure that the student understands the methods that are being taught in his or her class. Along the way, the student will pick up other tips and tricks to make problem-solving easier for him or her.

My child suffers from test anxiety. How can a tutor help?
In many cases, test anxiety occurs as a result of insecurity with the subject matter. By showing a student how to verbalize the thought processes that are required in solving a particular problem, the student will gradually gain the confidence that is necessary in being able to translate these thought processes into logically presented written statements leading to a correct solution.
